Wild Flowers in the Mossy Forest

The cool highland atmosphere is well known as conducive for the cultivation of cut flowers. In fact flowers is a major earner for the farmers here.

While it is nice to talk about the subject of cut flower, this site was created to deal with those natural flowers found here.

Numerous species of wild flowers thrive here and so readily spotted.

Selected here are sample of those found only in the Mossy Forest and not the highlands in general.

These catchy red flower stands out among the green foliages.

They are the "lipstick" plants from the family of GESNERIACEAE

Aechynanthus longicalyx

Names for many other plants were still not available to me at the time when this page was posted. Watch for updates. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

This are flower buds from the large flowering trees that make up a large part of the vegetations.

Didymocarpus hirtus

These are tiny flowers found in abundance at undergrowth area.

Corybas carinatus

This is a small terrestial plants with underground tuber.

Given the right season, a single leaf will sprout followed also by a single flower above the leaf.

This tiny jewel is one of the wonders of the orchid family. Its special shape, mode of existence so different from other genus. Somehow with this constraint, it is remarkable in its successful propagation.

Some says "Finding a Corybas in flower in its natural habitat compensates many discomfort."
