Pangkor Island Visiting the Beaches |
Along the west coast of Peninsula Malaysia, there is only one island that can boast of its beaches being the best. Of course there are a couple of small isolated islands of Langkawai that has really nice beaches. These are short stretches and difficult to access. It has being kept "nice" due to the fact that such places see little traffic. The beaches in Pangkor with large crowd can no longer lay claim to such fact. Their quality of beaches varied from good to mediocre. For example, that at Pasir Bogak is marginally better than those in Penang or Langkawai. Then a couple of less trodden beaches can be rated as good.
Apart from the example of beaches from the 2 extreme ends, there are these beautiful beaches at Teluk Nipah. There are 2 of them, each close to a kilometers long bay walk. Coral Bay Absorb the panoramic view, see the clear water. The aquamarine hue denoting corals underneath.The darker emerald shade further out to open sea denotes the deeper sections of the bay! If you care for some adventure, there is a short track by the beach. The profile of this boulder sure seem familiar.
Pantai Puteri Dewi or Beach of Fairy Princess is owned by Pan Pacific Resort. According to legend, a young warrior from Sumatra fell in love with a beautiful princess. To gain her favor, he sailed north to win his spur in battle. When he failed to return after many months, the princess, distraught, set out , traveled far and wide to search for him. Only in Pangkor did she discovered the truth. He had died in battle and buried on this island. The villagers showed her the grave. From there she rushed broken hearted to the cliff edge and threw herself over! You do not have to be in Sabah to see groups of these beautiful birds gliding through the air! |
